Jobless rate steady at 4.3 percent as state adds 15,100 private sector jobs

Wisconsin gained 15,100 private sector jobs last month, and its unemployment rate stayed at 4.3 percent, according to DWD.

The agency said October’s jobs gain was the highest in a single month since April 1992. The state’s unemployment rate, meanwhile, remains below October’s national unemployment rate of 5.0 percent, which dropped slightly from 5.1 percent in September.

DWD also released the latest quarterly data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which show the state added 30,735 private sector jobs from June 2014 to June 2015.

That’s down compared to the 39,624 private sector jobs the state added in the previous round of quarterly data, which spanned March 2014 to March 2015.

The quarterly data cannot yet be compared to other states’ numbers, as the DWD released the numbers ahead of a scheduled Dec. 17 release from the BLS.
