Pro Trade Job Development of Milwaukee: Creats jobs

Contact: Rashaad Washington, Senior, President of Pro Trade Job Development at (414) 763-8084.

Pro Trade Job Development of Milwaukee is a locally owned and operated minority skills training program building personal and professional development for men and women who are at a disadvantage in the workforce.

Within the last year, the Pro Trade Job Development program has an 80% success rate of finding gainful employment for area men and women.

Pro Trade Job Development aims to teach life long painting and carpentry trade skills to men and women who have few opportunities in the current job market. The program succeeds in helping them build an employable future, while decreasing unemployment and crime in the Milwaukee area.

In addition to learning new labor skills, Pro Trade Job Development trainees learn how to become more well rounded by gaining self wisdom, knowledge, understanding and confidence. All of this is achieved through a highly successful, structured, personal development curriculum.

The outstanding combination of learning valuable job skills along with self development makes it possible for these men and women to become valuable assets in the market place. In addition, the program helps them grow in whatever field they may choose with knowledge that will last a lifetime. This program allows participants to dictate their place in the marketplace as opposed to the marketplace dictating their future.

Trainees are taught how to be independent, self empowered individuals who have a more positive, and in-control outlook on life. Everyone is taught how to utilize the skills that apply to everyday successes, personally and professionally.

Pro Trade Job Development was originally created under the umbrella of 1-800-PRO-PAINTER, a local minority owned and operated painting company, but branched off into its own program earlier this year.

Both programs were created, owned and operated by Rashaad Washington, Senior, who was first inspired to create Pro Trade Job Development after seeing positive results in hiring troubled young men out of prison to work at 1-800-PRO PAINTER. With the success of his painting business, Mr. Washington decided he could give back to the community by keeping at risk men and women off the streets and out of prison.

With Pro Trade Job Development, Mr. Washington started with the “Craftsman Painter” program, which grew to include “Pre-Apprentice Carpentry” and “Pre-Apprentice Painter” which recently became more in depth programs over time.

With the programs growing, Mr. Washington needed a new, comfortable and professional training facility. This facility had to include a classroom settings for personal development curriculum and interior and exterior simulation rooms for trade skill development.

Mr. Washington was able to find, rescue and rehabilitate a building in the heart of one of Milwaukee’s first industrial parks. “ With a 6,000sq ft training facility and relaxing setting, these individuals are in a healthy environment that does nothing but encourage growth on all levels of a person from skill to character” said Mr. Washington about the new facility.

This success is made possible by partnering with organizations such as

Wisconsin Department of Corrections
UMOS
YWCA
Riverworks
WCS

to train and employ any disadvantaged, disenfranchised men and women who meet the employment criteria.

The program isn’t looking to slow down anytime soon, with plans to grow and expand to new heights, from new curriculum and locations to more advanced career opportunities.

In the near future, Pro Trade Job Development will incorporate more skill trades other than just painting, by including new courses in dry walling, electricity, plumbing, roofing, siding, and other areas within the construction field.

The program will establish a base in underemployed, impoverished areas throughout Wisconsin as well as the United States. Pro Trade Job Development’s ultimate long-term objective is to connect trainees directly to employers, creating strong and lasting relationships with local businesses. This approach will help reduce unemployment and crime throughout entire communities.

The Pro Trade Job Development program and team of experts will continue to make a difference in as many lives and communities as possible. Pro Trade Job Development teaches men and women the skills and knowledge to gain success in any given field, and to be proactive in accomplishing an improved, and happier lifestyle.

According to Mr. Washington, “Protrade’s focus is to spark the mind of those that thought they could not, those that thought they were beneath, those that thought they didn’t matter, and teach them why they matter, why they make a difference and how to make a difference.”
