A review of the Sommer’s Subaru groundbreaking event for a new Subaru signature facility
The Sommer’s Subaru groundbreaking event happened on May 9th and included Mequon Mayor Kurt Gielow and representatives from the City of Mequon, General Motors and Subaru. Wally and Don Sommer, owners of Sommer’s Subaru have been selling and servicing Subarus for over ten years, and have grown to become the largest Subaru dealer in Wisconsin, along with the second largest in the Midwest for 2010. To accommodate the growth of Sommer’s and the Subaru brand, an exclusive Subaru signature facility will be built at the expanded site. “We need to make sure Sommer’s has the right sized facility with all of the conveniences that Subaru customers expect” says Wally Sommer. This project encompasses the construction of a new 16,500-square-foot building, which will house a showroom, service reception area, and Subaru sales offices. The City of Mequon praised Sommer’s for enhancing Mequon’s retail business environment and a for being a beneficial business within the community. The representatives from Subaru congratulated Sommer’s for being a top volume dealership while maintaining a top 5% customer satisfaction rating.
The existing facility will be renovated for the Buick and GMC brands. Miron Construction Company was chosen as the contractor for the new project. The Sommer’s Subaru project should be serving customers as early as October 2011.
