Historic Milwaukee, Inc. (HMI) will hold its 4th annual Remarkable Milwaukee Dinner on October 18th at the Pfister Hotel. Each year a selected member of Milwaukee's business community gets honored for making a historic contribution to the city. This year Johnson Controls Inc. (JCI) will be recognized for their ongoing sustainable initiatives, as well as its past contributions to Milwaukee's built environment.
Guests at the event will be treated to a special tour of the hotel's Victorian art collection, conducted by the Pfister's Artist-in-Residence, Katie Musolff. Event attendees will get the opportunity to see the largest collection of Victorian art owned by any hotel in the world. Ms. Musolff will provide an artist's perspective on the context and thoughts behind the works of renowned international artists.
In addition to the Pfister's art collection, Ms. Musolff will provide a tour of her studio featuring portraits in progress of hotel employees. Of special interest to participants in the event's silent auction, Ms. Musolff will donate sitting time for a portrait.
The Pfister opened the art studio and gallery two years ago to provide a glimpse into the world of art as it is being created. The Pfister's business center on the ground floor was renovated to provide space for the studio and gallery, which is located near the café at the Pfister.
Katie Musolff grew up in West Allis and is a 2004 graduate of the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design (MIAD).
Tickets for the Remarkable Milwaukee event can be purchased through HMI's website. Individual Price: $85.00; Member Group Rate: Table of 8 for $640.00; HMI Guides and Committee Members: $50.00.
