Cream City Foundation: Business luncheon to focus on gay welcoming workplaces

(Milwaukee, Wisconsin) – Equality=Business Growth, a business luncheon presented by the Cream City Foundation in collaboration with its QShare LGBT Business Network, will take place Thursday, October 28th at the Manpower Global Headquarters in Milwaukee. Presented by The Prudential Insurance Company of America, the event will focus on ways to create a welcoming workplace for all, including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) employees.

“Culturally competent workplaces are the key for recruiting and retaining the best talent,” said Maria Cadenas, Executive Director of the Cream City Foundation. “Ensuring that gay and transgender employees feel welcomed and supported helps create a productive workforce and strengthens Milwaukee’s competitive edge in this global market.”

Cream City Foundation’s luncheon is part of its business initiative aimed at encouraging a culture of respect and acceptance for all workers, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.

“It’s the right thing to do,” said Stacey Herzing, President of the Board of the Cream City Foundation. “Business is a key component of any community’s success. A productive workforce not only helps a business grow, but it also nourishes our community by providing engaged volunteers and donors.”

The luncheon will feature David Alexander from the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Mr. Alexander’s experience includes assisting corporate partners in effectively working with and engaging the LGBT community. He has worked with and presented to dozens of companies including McDonald’s, IBM, Office Depot, General Mills, Best Buy, Accenture, Shell Oil, Inc., and Wells Fargo. The event will also feature Robbin Burr, the Prudential Insurance Company of America’s Mid-America Region Diversity Relationship Manager, presenting on lessons and best practices from their diversity programs that target LGBT individuals.
