Diverse team of federal officials will work to cut red tape, speed recovery for workers
WASHINGTON- Dr. Ed Montgomery, executive director of the White House Council on Automotive Communities and Workers, and a team of officials from across the federal government will travel to Janesville and Kenosha, WI, on Friday, June 11, to meet with localworkers, officials and community leaders affected by the recent economic downturn.
Montgomery will listen to local workers, officials and leaders, and lead the discussion to find concrete ways the federal government and partners can support the economic recovery of the Janesville and Kenosha areas. The discussion also will focuson ways federal officials can cut through red tape to move resources quickly and efficiently to communities that have been hardest hit by the economic crisis and job loss in the auto industry.
The team of federal officials includes representatives from the U.S. Departments of Labor, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, Health and Human Services, and Justice; the Environmental Protection Agency; the Small Business Administration; the Economic Development Administration; and the National Institute of Science and Technology.
