Findings suggest that supplementation with apoaequorin, a well-known calcium-binding protein, might address the age-related deficits in memory. Human trials have shown that a majority of healthy individuals studied reported benefits in memory, energy, mood and quality of sleep. The jellyfish protein is very similar to the calcium-binding proteins found in the human nervous system which become depleted in age-related memory conditions. Data demonstrating the protein’s ability to safely protect brain cells was first presented at the Society for Neuroscience meeting in 2006.
