MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Once again, Meijer has teamed up with the Milwaukee Brewers to donate thousands of dollars in gift cards so that local children can celebrate the holidays. Meijer will host a holiday shopping event at the Waukesha store, where local families will enjoy a memorable dinner and shopping experience with the Brewers. Local families will visit the Waukesha Meijer, 801 E. Sunset Drive, at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 to shop with Brewers’ first baseman Eric Thames and the Klement’s Famous Racing Sausages.
“This program has been a Meijer tradition, and we’re excited to have made it our own in Wisconsin with the third annual ‘Shop with a Brewer’ holiday event,” Meijer Market Director Art Belt said. “Every child deserves the opportunity to celebrate around the holidays, and we’re happy to help make that possible for many local children and families.”
Each holiday season, Meijer hosts “Shop with a Hero” events, which pair children in need with local sport heroes or law enforcement agencies to pick out holiday gifts for themselves and their families. Locally, participating families were identified by USO Wisconsin, who has been part of this local event the past two years. Children will receive a $100 Meijer gift card to spend on anything they want this holiday season. They will also receive a $20 gift card to buy a toy for a child at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
“We are excited to partner for the third year with Meijer on this great initiative to bring a little more cheer to the holidays for these children,” Brewers Chief Operating Officer Rick Schlesinger said. “This is a great complement to the many youth-oriented outreach efforts that we already have in place, and something we look forward to continuing as a holiday tradition for our organization for many years to come.”
Children have been invited to have dinner and meet the Klement’s Famous Racing Sausages before being paired with representatives from the Brewers to shop at the Waukesha store.
