It was a short retirement for Don Madelung. The former Herzing University President, who stepped down this past December, is now the major gifts officer at Madison Area Technical College.

“I have been here only a week and already I find myself loving the energy and the vast opportunities that Madison College provides students, staff, alumni and the community,” says Madelung, who will generate private gifts to help support priority projects at the College. Those projects include healthcare, protective services and advanced manufacturing.

“Don has a great deal of energy and experience as an entrepreneur in education,” says Foundation Executive Director Bob Dinndorf. “He’s a great addition to our Foundation team.”

Madelung has strong affiliations with Madison College. His wife, Sandra, teaches Dental Assisting at the College and his daughter, Britt, attended classes there before transferring to UW-Madison.

In addition to education, Madelung has served as chair of the South Central Workforce Development Board and is the past president of the Madison Metropolitan School System’s Business and Education Partnership.
