Madison, Wis. – After reviewing the substitute amendment of the Clean Energy Jobs Act released this morning, Clean Wisconsin’s senior policy director, Keith Reopelle, released the following statement this afternoon.

“The substitute amendment to the Clean Energy Jobs Act released this morning represents a hard fought compromise.

“Clean Wisconsin continues to support the bill as amended, as it will create jobs in Wisconsin, help keep energy bills affordable, and take an important step toward meeting the imminent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

“Reducing our reliance on expensive, dirty fossil fuels will help bolster our economy and clean our environment. We can no longer afford to rely on out-of-state fossil fuels. The Clean Energy Jobs Act will help Wisconsin become more energy independent by increasing investments in energy efficiency and clean, renewable energy like wind and solar power.”

“We hope our legislators will support this important legislation.”
