Wisconsin Economic Development Corp.: WEDC announces new CFO

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) today announced the selection of Stephanie M. Walker to be the organizations Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Walker’s first day will be June 17th.

Hall. “She brings a wealth of experience in public sector financial management and private sector auditing. That’s the perfect combination of talent for a public-private entity such as WEDC and exactly what we need to continue the tremendous progress we’ve made in reforming WEDC’s internal systems and controls.”

Ms. Walker (no relation to Governor and WEDC Board Chairman Scott Walker) is currently the Finance Director for the Village of Shorewood in Milwaukee County where she is responsible for the preparation of the Village’s financial statements and budget documents. These have received the Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

Ms. Walker previously served in finance management positions for the Village of Brown Deer in Milwaukee County, and the City of Berwyn, Illinois. Prior to her work for municipal governments, Ms. Walker was an Audit Manager for the accounting firm of Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP. Ms. Walker received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and is currently completing the coursework for her Masters in Public Administration at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Ms. Walker is a certified public accountant and a member of the Wisconsin Economic Development Association, the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Wisconsin Government Finance Officers Association, and the Government Finance Officers Association where she is a member of the Committee on Accounting, Auditing and Financial Reporting.
