— The Trump administration notified Wisconsin in July that it had identified 794 policyholders on the Obamacare exchanges that it believed were suspicious.
A spokesperson for the Wisconsin Insurance Commissioner said the agency hasn’t received word since on how many of those had their coverage terminated.
Vice President JD Vance yesterday announced plans to remove approximately 315,000 enrollments from the Affordable Care Act’s public healthcare exchanges, covering 760,000 people that the Trump administration believes were fraudulently enrolled or don’t exist.
In yesterday’s announcement, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services didn’t provide a state-by-state breakdown, and the agency didn’t immediately respond to an email seeking details on Wisconsin enrollees.
— Wisconsin has now had 171 cases of measles so far this year, after state health officials recently announced a new confirmed case in Chippewa County.
The state Department of Health Services yesterday said there have been no reports of public exposure associated with the case in northern Wisconsin, and the announcement doesn’t say whether it’s linked to the ongoing outbreak in the state’s southwestern region.
Along with the latest case, DHS says confirmed cases have also been found in Grant, Iowa, Lafayette, Marathon and Vernon counties since August. The biggest spike was the week of Aug. 23, when 49 confirmed cases had rash onset during that week.
Of the 171 total cases, all but one have been in unvaccinated people. Five of the cases have led to hospitalization, and no deaths have been reported.
— Sun Prairie’s Independent Pharmacy Cooperative today announced it’s acquiring IntegralRx, a South Carolina pharmacy products supplier.
In a statement on the move, IPC President and CEO Marc Essensa said it’s about “preserving and strengthening the relationships” that IntegralRx built with independent pharmacies. The announcement notes IPC will look to expand access to more products, services and resources through the acquisition.
“We believe this combination creates the best possible outcome for pharmacies by preserving what made IntegralRx successful while expanding the opportunities available to its customers,” Essensa said.
IPC says it will retain “key” personnel from IntegralRx and work with customers to make sure the transition process is “seamless.” The company says pharmacy customers will keep receiving dedicated support while getting access to more purchasing opportunities through its broader network.
