MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC), the combined state chamber of commerce and manufacturers’ association, announced that Assembly Speaker Robin Vos has been honored with the organization’s Champion of Free Enterprise Award, recognizing his leadership and steadfast commitment to advancing pro-growth policies that strengthen Wisconsin’s economy and enhance the state’s business climate.
The Champion of Free Enterprise Award is presented to lawmakers who have demonstrated exceptional support for policies that promote economic growth, job creation, investment, and competitiveness. Recipients are selected based on their voting records and leadership on issues important to Wisconsin employers and workers.
“Speaker Vos has been a consistent champion for Wisconsin’s employers, manufacturers, and job creators,” said WMC President/CEO Kurt R. Bauer. “His leadership has helped advance policies that encourage investment, support workforce development, and ensure Wisconsin remains competitive for businesses of all sizes. We are proud to recognize Speaker Vos with WMC’s Champion of Free Enterprise Award.”
Throughout his time serving in the legislature, Vos has played a key role in advancing monumental legislation such as Right to Work, Act 10, and School Choice expansion. Importantly, as Speaker, Vos has acted as a goalkeeper in stopping the advancement of anti-business policies, such as the elimination of the Manufacturing and Agricultural Tax Credit (MAC), a massive tax hike on Wisconsin employers, and efforts to expand the welfare state. He also led negotiations to pass a tax relief and spending package, overhaul shared revenue for local governments, and support the state’s Youth Apprenticeship program.
“Speaker Vos has long understood that a strong economy begins with a strong business climate,” Bauer added. “His commitment to free enterprise and economic opportunity has made a far-reaching impact on Wisconsin employers and the communities they support. We congratulate him on his career and wish him the best in retirement.”
The award was presented by WMC’s Executive Vice President of Government Relations Scott Manley at the State Capitol on August 6.
