Waukesha County Parks: Expands ‘Leave Your Mark’ program to Mukwonago Park Dog Exercise Area

(WAUKESHA, Wis.) – Waukesha County Parks is expanding its popular “Leave Your Mark” personalized boardwalk plank donation program to the Dog Exercise Area at Mukwonago Park, giving community members a new opportunity to create a lasting tribute while supporting the park system.

The program allows anyone to purchase a recycled composite boardwalk plank and personalize it with an engraved message honoring a loved one, remembering a special person or pet, recognizing a family, celebrating an event or sharing a meaningful quote. The engraved planks will become part of the boardwalk extension within the park’s large breed Dog Exercise Area.

“Leave Your Mark provides a unique way for park visitors to connect with the places they enjoy while helping enhance Waukesha County’s natural spaces,” Director of Parks and Land Use Dale Shaver said. “These personalized planks create meaningful memories that become part of the park experience for years to come.”

Each plank is available for a $275 donation and can include an engraved message of up to 80 characters. The first installation opportunity will align with the Mukwonago Park Dog Exercise Area boardwalk extension project. Plank donations received through August 2026 are expected to be installed during construction in September 2026.

Community members interested in participating in the Leave Your Mark program can purchase a plank at waukeshacounty.gov/leaveyourmark to become part of the Mukwonago Park boardwalk experience and help support Waukesha County Parks.
