Bayfield, Wis. — 3.14 and More will celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, July 31, at 250 Rittenhouse Avenue in Bayfield, Wisconsin.
Owners Marnie Krueger and Connie Wroblewski have combined their talents and shared love of food to create a welcoming shop offering handcrafted pies, desserts and Italian-inspired dishes. Customers can dine in or select from a variety of convenient grab-and-go options.
The menu will feature fresh pasta, sauces, meatballs and other foods prepared by hand in small batches. The owners also plan to introduce picnic baskets, allowing visitors to pick up everything they need for a day exploring Bayfield and the surrounding area.
“We think people are enjoying the marriage of the two concepts — Italian food and desserts,” Krueger said. “Customers can sit down if they would like, or they can take everything with them to enjoy at home or on the go.”
Krueger’s passion for baking began with a French silk pie that became a favorite at family gatherings. She later became the designated dessert maker for workplace potlucks, birthdays and other celebrations. As demand grew, she began searching for a commercial kitchen where she could expand beyond baked fruit pies and offer cream, custard, pumpkin and other specialty varieties.
In addition to its regular offerings, 3.14 and More plans to host occasional European-style dining experiences. Each themed meal will offer seating for 24 guests and feature multiple courses inspired by a particular destination. Wroblewski recently traveled through Italy, Greece and Turkey to study regional ingredients, recipes and cooking techniques.
“These meals will be an experience,” Wroblewski said. “Guests might travel through the Greek Isles for an evening, eating and drinking their way through courses created around the region’s flavors.”
The partnership began years before the business took shape. Krueger and Wroblewski met while working as nurse managers on Minnesota’s Iron Range. After losing touch, they unexpectedly reconnected at a school event in Washburn, where they discovered they had both moved to the area with their families.
“We have cared for people throughout their lives, and now we are going to feed them,” Wroblewski said. “Our relationship is built on professional respect. Neither of us could have done this alone, but together, we were able to combine our resources and ideas.”
Following the grand opening, 3.14 and More plans to operate Thursday through Monday, with extended hours considered during Concerts by the Lake and other evening activities in Bayfield.
The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting, meet the owners and explore the new food offerings at 3.14 and More.
