Wisconsin Credit Union: Announces 2026 Legends of The Movement inductees

Madison, WI (June 1, 2026) – The Wisconsin Credit Union Foundation’s Board of Directors has announced the 2026 inductees to Legends of The Movement. Legends of The Movement recognizes trailblazers, visionaries, and dedicated individuals who have made extraordinary and lasting contributions to The Credit Union Movement in Wisconsin and beyond. Inductees embody the cooperative spirit and exemplify a lifelong commitment to the credit union philosophy of “People Helping People.”

This year’s inductees were honored in a ceremony during The League’s Annual Convention in May. They are:

  • Janet Behnke, Vice President, WISCUB Service Center
  • Lora Benrud, Former President & CEO, WESTconsin Credit Union
  • Sally Dischler, Former President & CEO, Heartland Credit Union
  • John “Jack” Edgerton, Former Board Chair, Sentry Credit Union
  • John Engel, Former VP of Legal Affairs, The Wisconsin Credit Union League
  • Joyce Harris, Former President & CEO, Heartland Credit Union
  • Anne Heggelund, Former President, Marathon County Employees Credit Union 
  • Kevin Nitka, Former President/CEO, Guardian Credit Union
  • David Stark, Former President & CEO, Bull’s Eye Credit Union

As Legends of The Movement, honorees have demonstrated exceptional leadership or influence that has contributed to the growth, development, and reputation of The Credit Union Movement, displayed a proven track record of innovative practices or initiatives that have positively impacted credit unions or the financial well-being of members, committed fully to the eight Cooperative Principles, and made a lasting impact at the statewide level.
