(Green Bay, Wis.) – During March and April, 40,782 tons of cargo moved through the Port of Green Bay. March and April totals last season came in at 100,003 tons, while totals for the same months in 2024 were 204,695 tons.
“This shipping season is off to a slow start due to recent heavy rainfall resulting in temporary disruptions to vessel navigation and port operations,” explained Dean Haen, Port of Green Bay Director. “Safety is our top priority, and these elevated flow conditions present real challenges. We are working closely with vessel operators and monitoring conditions continuously to ensure that operations resume based on real-time river conditions.”
To date this season, two commodities have been moved through the Port, including cement (9,678 tons), and petroleum products (31,104 tons). Four vessels have arrived at the Port this season, compared to seven at this time in 2025.
“Despite lower volumes, the Port remains a vital force in our regional economy, driving job support and ensuring businesses have access to essential materials,” Haen said. “As market dynamics shift, the Port is committed to evolving with the trends, strengthening its role as a resilient hub in the region’s supply chain. We’ll be keeping a close eye on how things progress throughout the rest of the season.”
