MADISON, Wis. (May 8, 2025) – In its first Community Grant cycle of the year, Alliant Energy and the Alliant Energy Foundation, awarded over $715,000 to various causes and nonprofits across Iowa and Wisconsin.
“Alliant Energy and the Alliant Energy Foundation build stronger communities by supporting organizations in the communities we serve,” said Andy Kitslaar, executive director of the Alliant Energy Foundation. “Our intentional approach is guided by serving our customers through focused areas of giving and our Community Grants help advance short and long-term goals of nonprofit partners. The passion Alliant Energy has for customers can be directly seen through the work of our Foundation and we are thrilled to provide 158 organizations with support so far this year.”
All Community Grant recipients seek to make an impact in Alliant Energy’s four focus areas: Community safety and engagement, environmental stewardship, workforce readiness and hunger and housing.
- Community safety and engagement: Improvements for emergency services and over $114,000 in grants covered 33 communities for many first response organizations including police and fire/EMS departments as they plan for vital new or upgraded equipment. Support will also be provided to initiatives that bring communities together such as special events like fairs and building playgrounds.
- Hunger and housing: Clothing, household needs as well as food pantry support including food delivery and meal outreach programs were awarded over $102,000 in grants in 20 communities. Organizations focused on emergency shelter support, transition and permanent housing and transportation were also included in these grant opportunities.
- Environmental stewardship: Protecting wildlife spaces, planting trees and prairies including creating and protecting habitats received grants of over $355,000 in nine communities. Alliant Energy also supports public education, workshops and school programs focused on environmental issues, endangered species and wildlife protection as well as updated park and trail projects.
- Workforce readiness: To aid in the development of a solid workforce and attract future employees, over $140,000 in grants were awarded to 25 communities for youth agriculture programs, school gardens, farm education and innovation, as well as libraries and bookmobiles, STEM programming, workshops and festivals.
The Alliant Energy Foundation is governed by a board of directors consisting of officers of Alliant Energy Corporation or its subsidiaries, which periodically reviews grant program guidelines. The Foundation, which is funded solely by Alliant Energy shareowners, seeks to further the corporation’s goal of being a good corporate citizen and contributing member of society.
