MADISON, Wis. — UnityPoint Health – Meriter is proud to announce that our very own Community Engagement Manager, Dr. Corinda Rainey-Moore, has been awarded the prestigious 2026 Rev. James C. Wright Human Rights Award from the City of Madison Common Council.
Presented annually by the Madison Equal Opportunities Commission and the Civil Rights Division, this esteemed honor recognizes individuals who embody equal opportunity leadership, civic inclusion, and multi-decade commitments to civil rights in Madison and Dane County.
Dr. Rainey-Moore brings more than 35 years of dedicated experience in healthcare to her role at Meriter, alongside a lifelong commitment to community stewardship. Holding a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Edgewood College, she is widely recognized across the region as a trailblazer in health equity, a passionate advocate for marginalized populations—particularly regarding the mental and physical well-being of Black women and children—and the founder of the Queen Leadership Academy. Her extensive local leadership also includes service with organizations like the Foundation for Black Women’s Wellness and the Focused Interruption coalition
“When my life is over, I don’t want people to remember that I won the Rev. James C. Wright Award,” said Rainey-Moore. “I want them to say that because I lived, more people believed they belonged. Others saw their humanity and believed in their worth and their value.”
As a community hospital, Meriter’s core mission is to care for the Madison community both inside and outside our walls. Dr. Rainey-Moore is a critical driving force in making that vision a reality by building enduring partnerships, addressing systemic disparities, and fostering health equity across the region. Through her visionary leadership, countless individuals have found better access to essential healthcare and connected with vital resources.
UnityPoint Health – Meriter invites our entire community to join us in celebrating Dr. Rainey-Moore for this incredible and well-deserved recognition of her lifelong dedication to human rights and community well-being.
