Swan Creek Supper Club: Proposed Swan Creek Supper Club faces opposition ahead of June 8 Lake Geneva City Council vote

Lake Geneva, Wisconsin — A beautiful new destination supper club planned for Lake Geneva is facing opposition from members of the City Council ahead of a critical vote that could determine the future of the project.

The proposed Swan Creek Supper Club is the vision of restaurateur and entrepreneur David Scotney, owner of Oakfire Pizza and founder of several successful hospitality ventures throughout Wisconsin. Scotney hopes to create a destination that celebrates Wisconsin’s rich supper club tradition while providing a gathering place for residents and visitors for generations to come.

The Lake Geneva Plan Commission previously recommended approval of the project after reviewing extensive plans and studies. However, several members of the Common Council have raised objections regarding access to the property.

According to communications received by Scotney, opposition to the project includes a proposal that would require Swan Creek to acquire additional privately owned land near the existing Mobil gas station stoplight and construct a new entrance through property that the project does not currently own. The success of the project would therefore depend upon purchasing land from a third-party owner.

Additional concerns raised by opponents have included speculation regarding future menu pricing, despite the fact that no final menu or pricing decisions have been presented.

“I’ve spent my career building businesses that bring people together,” said David Scotney. “Swan Creek represents an opportunity to create something truly special for Lake Geneva. We have listened to concerns, completed the required studies, and have worked in good faith throughout this process. I hope this project will ultimately be evaluated on the facts and given fair consideration.”

Scotney is best known as the founder of Oakfire Pizza and for his commitment to preserving and investing in historic Wisconsin properties. Swan Creek is envisioned as an elegant destination supper club that would create jobs, attract visitors, and become a long-term investment in the Lake Geneva community.
