MINERAL POINT, Wis.—Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts is readying the 2.5-acre campus for the 24th annual Woodlanders Gathering. Colloquially known as “summer camp for adults,” this year’s gathering will take place July 16-18 in the historic heart of Mineral Point.
Whether a beginner or an experienced craftsperson, attendees will enjoy creative time with over 30 nature-based workshops led by talented instructors who love returning to the gathering to share their creativity. Workshops offered include: rustic furniture from sturdy benches to whimsical side tables, garden-inspired pottery, or leather projects; blacksmithing and paper crafts; and ways to upcycle and reclaim items for art and sustainability. Students will begin each day with morning coffee and treats on the Art Cafe patio, enjoy daily lunches on the Green, and browse the incredible Woodlanders Silent Auction featuring rustic arts, twiggy furniture, nature crafts, books, tools, and more (donated by instructors and students!) benefiting Shake Rag Alley’s mission. The Woodlanders Gathering offers a time to relax, soak up the sunshine, enjoy the company of a great group of nature-loving folks, and discover the magic of Shake Rag Alley’s lush gardens, tall trees, historic buildings, and natural spring-fed stream.
Every day is packed with unique hands-on projects and light-hearted fun. The Woodlanders’ day fees of $125 include a choice of available workshops (materials fees apply), lunches on the Green, snacks, and beverages. Half-day registrations for workshops are only $65. Friday and Saturday dinners are an additional $15 each. The deadline to register for workshops is July 13.
Evening entertainment includes Woodlanders Games Friday at 6 p.m. with camp-style games, and refreshments (free for all students). On Saturday 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Woodlanders attendees and community members alike can enjoy Music on the Green with Scott Steiber and Don Meyers. Scott and Don have fun playing a variety of original and ‘cover’ tunes, including blues, singer-songwriters, and Brit Invasion. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased online or at the door.
