Protect Our Care: Confirmed: Trump’s secret deals pad the pockets of big drug companies while raising costs for seniors

Washington, D.C. — This afternoon, President Trump is set to announce another set of sham drug pricing deals that do nothing to lower costs for seniors and working families. Regardless of the numbers he touts, his secret deals with big drug companies protect corporate profits while raising costs for thousands of seniors. In fact, the latest reporting from Endpoints News confirms that CMS has been offering drug companies exemptions from Medicare drug pricing negotiations if they agree to provide additional rebates in Medicaid.

Protect Our Care President Brad Woodhouse released the following statement:

“These deals are nothing but empty rhetoric. It’s no coincidence that big drug companies are raking in record-breaking profits, while millions of Americans struggle to afford the medications they need to survive. Instead of actually working to lower costs, Trump has handed out tax breaks to drug companies while cutting backroom deals that give them loopholes to avoid lower prices and protect their profits. Trump is sabotaging negotiations on high-cost drugs used to treat conditions like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis  — the very negotiations Democrats fought to secure in 2022, and that have already saved seniors and taxpayers billions of dollars. Yet again, Trump is prioritizing corporate profits over the health of working families.”
