Madison, WI – The Professional Insurance Agents of Wisconsin (PIAW) is proud to announce that Alyssa Hobgood of BWO Insurance Group in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, has been named PIA National’s Young Insurance Professional of the Year for 2026.
This award, presented by the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents (PIA), honors one outstanding young insurance professional each year who demonstrates excellence in their work, education, leadership in the insurance industry, community involvement, and service to their agency and clients.
Alyssa is a third-generation independent insurance agent who has been with her family’s agency, BWO Insurance Group, for nine years where she is a personal and commercial risk advisor. She is currently furthering her insurance sales excellence by pursuing her Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) designation.
In the various leadership roles she holds, Alyssa demonstrates an unwavering dedication to the success of PIAW and the independent agency channel. She began serving on the Board of Directors in 2023 and currently serves on its Executive Committee as Secretary. She chairs PIAW’s Convention Committee and serves on the Member Value Task Force, Scholarship Golf Outing Committee, Legislative Committee and Young Professionals Insurance Network Committee.
Alyssa’s commitment to PIA extends well beyond committee service. Her drive and electric attitude inspires others to get involved and regularly encourages new attendees to participate in association events. She masterminded the creation of PIAW’s Family Fun Day to provide an outlet for members to meet each other’s families. In addition, she also travels with PIAW’s delegation to Washington, D.C. to advocate for independent insurance agents before members of Congress.
The enthusiasm Alyssa exhibits for PIA also extends to strengthening the future of the insurance profession and her community. Alyssa works with local high schools and community colleges and attends job fairs to promote insurance careers, PIAW education programs and the Young Professionals Insurance Network. She served as president of her local chamber of commerce, served on its Board of Directors, and remains active in her church.
