(Green Bay, Wis.) – During the month of June, 273,708 metric tons of cargo moved through Port Green Bay, a 98.7% increase from June 2025, when totals reached 137,747 tons. The activity reflects a busy start to summer on the river with vessels, operators and regional industries connecting Northeast Wisconsin businesses to broader supply chains.
“June’s strong cargo volumes are an encouraging sign as the shipping season continues to build momentum,” said Dean Haen, Port Green Bay Director. “We’re seeing increased activity across several key commodities and continued growth in international shipping, highlighting the Port’s important role in supporting regional industries and supply chains.”
This month, a total of seven commodities moved through the Port, including cement (42,565 tons), coal (35,969 tons), gypsum (4,581 tons), limestone (112,239 tons), salt (17,211 tons), petroleum products (57,137 tons), and wood pulp/paper reels (4,006 tons). Nearly all commodities have increased this year with coal products year-to-date (YTD) totals tracking 396% higher than 2025. To make this all happen, 24 vessels entered the Port, bringing the YTD total to 39.
“The Port’s success is measured by the value it creates for businesses and communities across northeast Wisconsin,” Haen said. “The continued diversification of cargo moving through Green Bay reflects the confidence our customers have in the Port and reinforces its role as a critical transportation hub for the region.”
