(Green Bay, Wis.) – During the month of August, 213,188 metric tons of cargo moved through Port Green Bay, bringing the year-to-date (YTD) total to 912,098 metric tons, which is 9% higher than August of 2025.
“August kept Port Green Bay on a strong course as we moved through the heart of the shipping season,” said Dean Haen, Port Green Bay Director. “We’re pleased with the level of activity we’ve seen this summer and look forward to carrying that momentum into the fall.”
Seven commodities moved through the Port in August: cement (43,844 tons), coal (17,784 tons), gypsum (4,747 tons), limestone (44,276 tons), salt (59,016 tons), petroleum products (40,028 tons) and wood pulp/paper reels (3,493). To make this all happen, a total of 19 vessels entered the Port in August, bringing the YTD total to 82.
“With 19 vessels carrying seven different commodities through the Port in August, we continue to see the breadth of industries served by marine transportation,” Haen added. “That activity is a strong reminder of how the Port helps keep essential materials moving and northeast Wisconsin businesses connected.”
