Central Brown County Water Authority: Earns AA credit rating from Fitch Ratings

ALLOUEZ, Wis. — The Central Brown County Water Authority (CBCWA) is pleased to announce that Fitch Ratings has upgraded the Water Authority’s credit rating to AA, from AA-, reflecting the organization’s financial strength, disciplined management and long-term planning. The ratings upgrade comes on the heels of the Water Authority reducing its wholesale water rate to six charter customer communities by 3.6% in 2026.

“Achieving an AA rating, while lowering the rate our customers pay per thousand gallons, is a direct reflection of the sound management practices implemented by Water Authority leadership,” said CBCWA General Manager Nic Sparacio. “We remain committed to providing a high-quality, abundant drinking water supply while maintaining infrastructure efficiency designed to advance regional drinking water solutions for the communities we serve, with the ability to add more communities as members.”

Fitch Ratings, an independent financial ratings agency serving investors worldwide, cited the Water Authority’s strong financial position and recently-completed Emergency Water Supply Plan as key factors driving the upgrade. The plan confirmed that existing wells and interconnections are sufficient to meet current and future water needs, reducing the likelihood of large-scale capital projects.

The AA rating further demonstrates the Water Authority’s commitment to fiscal responsibility. “The Water Authority continues to prioritize preventive maintenance to ensure long-term reliability and cost efficiency for its member communities,” Sparacio explains. “Taking this approach ensures the system will continue to serve the needs of our communities far into the future.”
