Bayfield, Wis. — Two acclaimed polka musicians with deep ties to Frank Yankovic, “America’s Polka King,” will perform in Bayfield this summer.
Joey Miskulin and Jeff Winard will present “The Music of Frank Yankovic – America’s Polka King” on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Memorial Park Gazebo in Bayfield.
Miskulin, a GRAMMY-winning accordionist and longtime member of Riders In The Sky, began performing professionally as a child and went on to collaborate with artists including Frank Yankovic, Paul McCartney, U2, Shania Twain, and Ricky Skaggs. He was part of the Yankovic Band beginning in 1962 and later produced Yankovic’s 1986 GRAMMY-winning album, 70 Years of Hits. In 2019, he received the American Accordionists’ Association Lifetime Achievement Award.
Winard, a Wisconsin Polka Hall of Fame inductee, began performing with Yankovic in 1970 as an accordionist and drummer. Over nearly three decades, he traveled the country performing Yankovic’s music, appearing everywhere from Las Vegas casinos to the New York State Fair. He has also been inducted into the National Cleveland Style Polka Hall of Fame.
As two of the most tenured Yankovic Band alumni, Miskulin and Winard continue to perform select events together to keep Yankovic’s music and legacy alive. Their Bayfield performance will celebrate the joyful sound and lasting tradition of classic polka music.
Community members and visitors are invited to bring a chair or blanket and enjoy an afternoon of music along Bayfield’s waterfront.
