Universities of Wisconsin: Launch ‘Mascots on Main’ initiative to highlight business impact

MADISON, Wis.—The Universities of Wisconsin today announced the launch of “Mascots on Main,” a new social media video campaign showcasing the strong relationships between Wisconsin’s constellation of 13 public universities and local businesses across the state. The campaign features university chancellors and their mascots visiting businesses that partner with the universities, are owned by alumni, employ university students, or simply support the Universities of Wisconsin.

Each week, a different University of Wisconsin will be highlighted across the Universities of Wisconsin’s social media channels, showcasing the unique connections between the university and its surrounding community.

The first video in the series will be released today, February 10, featuring UW-Platteville Chancellor Tammy Evetovich and mascot Pioneer Pete. It can be viewed on the Universities of Wisconsin’s social media channels, including FacebookLinkedInXX – Jay Rothman, and YouTube.

“We’re incredibly grateful for the support we receive from local businesses, and it is vital to demonstrate the many ways in which Wisconsin businesses depend on the Universities of Wisconsin,” said Universities of Wisconsin President Jay Rothman. “The videos will share these stories for weeks to come at our universities. Come for the mascots but stay for the message.”
