MILWAUKEE, Wis. – August 08, 2024 – The Ethnic and Diverse Business Coalition today announced the official launch of the Wisconsin Diverse Enterprise Network (WiDEN), an innovative online platform designed to bridge the gap between Fortune 500 companies and Wisconsin’s diverse, socially and economically-disadvantaged businesses in an intentional and equitable way.
The platform is backed by reputable local chambers of commerce and established business organizations, lending credibility and trust to its mission.
“WiDEN is more than just a business directory – it’s a vibrant community empowering all Wisconsin businesses but intentionally focusing on our socially and economically-disadvantaged businesses and positioning them for success,” said Marjorie Rucker, Chair of the Ethnic and Diverse Business Coalition, the coalition funding and leading the WiDEN initiative.
At the heart of WiDEN is a commitment to providing unparalleled support and opportunities for its members. The community offers a range of exclusive resources, including expert connections to expert business advice, statewide and nationwide visibility, and potential procurement opportunities. WiDEN is designed to empower businesses to thrive in today’s competitive market by fostering an ecosystem of connection and growth for businesses of all sizes.
“The need for a platform like this is undeniable. Many economically disadvantaged businesses are being left behind or considered an afterthought and WiDEN will help bridge that gap,” Rucker added. “By supporting all Wisconsin businesses and intentionally centering outreach to include our socially and economically disadvantaged business community, the platform contributes to the broader economic growth of Wisconsin, creating opportunities for all, regardless of background.”
WiDEN’s official statewide launch will include the Connect, Collaborate, Thrive Tour kicking off in August. Led by the Ethnic and Diverse Business Coalition and its partner, New North, this multi-city tour throughout the state of Wisconsin will introduce the platform’s unique offerings, showcase success stories, and highlight the importance of supporting the state’s business community. Each stop on the tour will bring together business owners, community leaders and WiDEN representatives to help educate, engage and empower the small business community. Confirmed WiDEN tour stops include, but are not limited to:
• Latino Festival, September 14 – Pierce Park, Appleton WI
• Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce Expo, October 9 – Sheraton Madison Hotel, Madison, WI
• Governors Marketplace Wisconsin, December 11-12 – Baird Center, Milwaukee, WI
