Appleton, WI – September 11, 2024 – A beloved local business known for its freshly prepared, delicious single-serving entrees, Valley Market, will move forward under new ownership. Blue Lid BBQ is proud to announce its acquisition of Valley Market, Valley Catering Co., and parent company Four One Food Group, LLC. This acquisition comes in the wake of the tragic passing of Valley Market’s founding owner, David Bennett. Bennett, 31, who died unexpectedly of a cardiac event in July 2024, was a close friend of Blue Lid owners Jon and Jaclyn Charais as well as a cherished community member and business partner.
“David was a valued member of our local food scene and our community as a whole. Beyond that, he was just an excellent person who put others before himself in nearly every regard. His absence is deeply felt,” said Jon at Blue Lid. “When the opportunity came for us to continue his work, there really wasn’t a second thought. It was an obvious choice. We’re honored to carry forward his vision while still maintaining the exceptional standards and generous spirit that David was known for.”
Valley Market has been a staple for many. “We make a point to offer a wide variety of freshly made and balanced meals, including gluten free and vegetarian options. I believe it’s important that our community has great options without sacrificing quality or enjoyment. Prior to his passing, Bennett was in the process of establishing “David’s Table,” for which he intended to draw from his vision and passion for cooking and serving others. His family has moved this project forward to honor his legacy through a non-profit community outreach program in cooperation with First Presbyterian Church Neenah to offer nourishment to anyone in need.
