MILWAUKEE, WI – September 24, 2024 – Maryann Lazarski, journalism instructor at Marquette University, will lead the Milwaukee Press Club as president for another year, after the membership’s ratification of annual elections to the club’s board of governors at its Annual Meeting on September 17.
Lazarski is a veteran journalist. She joined Milwaukee PBS in 2013 where she produced the award-winning news-magazine program 10thirtysix along with documentaries and specials. In addition to her work at Milwaukee PBS, Lazarski spent 20 years at WISN-TV Channel 12 in both producing and management positions.
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences honored Lazarski with the Silver Circle Award for her tenure and significant contributions to the industry. Marquette University recently honored her with a national alumni award for ethics and social responsibility in her work. She has won several Emmys and national public media awards in addition to top honors from the Milwaukee Press Club, the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, the National Association of Black Journalists, and the Associated Press.
Lazarski also has held faculty positions at Cardinal Stritch University and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
She has served on the Milwaukee Press Club Board for nearly 20 years.
