[GLENDALE]—Lubavitch of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Jewish Federation are partnering to host the entire Jewish community for an outdoor street festival on Sunday, October 20, from 4:00pm-7:00pm. The “Sukkot Street Party” will feature a DJ, carnival rides, strolling shows, airbrush, LED dance floor, a mega sized sukkah structure, and Chinese buffet dinner.
The Sukkot holiday, which begins at nightfall on October 16 and goes through Wednesday, October 23, is the Jewish harvest festival. Sukkot is celebrated by building a “sukkah”, a temporary outdoor structure where Jewish people eat and celebrate during the holiday week.
The Sukkot Street Party is free and open to all, and organizers are expecting the entire Jewish community to show up to celebrate. The festival will take place at the corner of Green Bay Avenue and Green Tree Road, with the street blocked off to accommodate the celebration. Featured at the event are carnival rides, DJ and an outdoor LED dance floor, a giant community sukkah that seats hundreds, strolling street shows, delicious Kosher Chinese dinner, face paint and balloon twisting, a full-service bar, and more!
“We are really excited for the Street Party,” says Rabbi Mendel Shmotkin, director of Lubavitch of Wisconsin. “Sukkot is the holiday of Jewish unity and we are looking forward to bringing the community together to celebrate.” Organizers are expecting hundreds of participants, and are preparing to welcome people of all backgrounds.
Admission is free, ride and food tickets will be available for purchase. For more information, and to buy tickets online, go to sukkotstreetparty.com
