Eau Claire, Wisconsin – The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce the 2025 National Civics Bee®, a competition aimed at encouraging middle school students to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. This event, organized in partnership with The Civic Trust® of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, invites any middle school student in grades 6-8 from public, private, charter, and home schools to participate.
Middle school students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade from public, private, charter, and home schools are invited to take part in the first-round of civics essay competition. The competition begins with a 750-word civics essay where students are asked to identify a community issue and propose how they could help improve it. Student will include the individuals or organizations who could work together to accomplish the solution. Essays should incorporate at least one Founding Principle and one Civic Virtue, as outlined in the provided 2025 National Civics Bee® Essay Guide. This guide offers tips and resources to help students formulate their ideas and strengthen their essays.
After a distinguished panel of judges review the essays, the top 20 students selected from the essay round will advance to a live quiz event to be held in Eau Claire, spring 2025. Finalists will compete for various prizes, with the first-place winner receiving a $500 cash prize. The top three finalists will go on to compete in the state competition hosted by Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce in Madison.
