Xcel Energy: Names two new regional vice presidents

EAU CLAIRE, Wis.  (January 17, 2023) – Two Xcel Energy employees have recently transitioned into new leadership roles for Xcel Energy-Wisconsin and Michigan.

Mara Ascheman has been named regional vice president, Rates and Regulatory Affairs. Ascheman is currently a principal regulatory attorney with more than 12 years of experience representing Xcel Energy before state regulatory commissions in a wide variety of electric and natural gas proceedings. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her law degree from the William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul. In this new role, she will direct the development of regulatory rate case filings and permitting and oversee the revenue requirements department for the Wisconsin and Michigan company.

Tyrel Zich has been named regional vice president of Regulatory Policy. Since joining Xcel Energy in 2016, Zich has held various positions in Rates and Regulatory Affairs, most recently serving as the manager of Pricing and Planning. Prior to joining the company, he held positions at the Hamilton Consulting Group and the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and a master’s degree in Public Affairs with a focus in energy analysis, policy and finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison La Follette School of Public Affairs. In his new role, Zich will provide oversee regulatory strategy planning, policy and pricing for Xcel Energy’s operations in Wisconsin and Michigan.
