Wisconsin Dells: Romy Snyder receives prestigious state tourism award before retirement

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. (March 16, 2023) – Romy Snyder, President and CEO of the Wisconsin Dells Visitor & Convention Bureau (WDVCB) was recently honored with the Governor’s Legacy Award at the Wisconsin Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Green Bay. As Snyder prepares to retire as the President and CEO of the WDVCB on April 8, the Legacy Award is a deserving recognition for her many years of service in the tourism industry. This award showcases her impact on the tourism landscape in Wisconsin Dells and Wisconsin as a whole.

Her decades of service have resulted in profound, long- lasting contributions to the industry, benefiting all of Wisconsin,” said Tourism Secretary-designee Anne Sayers. “Romy demonstrates passion and dedication for promoting tourism to the Wisconsin Dells, and she is an inspiration to colleagues and peers across the country. I congratulate Romy on her outstanding career and for being the 2023 Governor’s Tourism Legacy Award winner.” 

Snyder has led the vision of the WDVCB since September 1995, playing a critical role in securing the Wisconsin Dells area as a premier year-round tourism destination. Under her guidance and direction, the Wisconsin Dells area has experienced tremendous growth in economic impact. Nearly 27 years ago, the economic impact of tourism in Wisconsin Dells was estimated at just over $348 million. By 2021, that number had almost quadrupled, to $1.2 billion in direct visitor spending.

About the Legacy Award

Awarded to an individual who has shown a long-lasting and permanent contribution to the industry. Nominees should have 25 years or more of distinguished services to the tourism industry, including at least 15 years in Wisconsin.
