UW-Milwaukee: Police respond to shooting at Cambridge Commons residence hall

UWM Police issued a RAVE alert at 12:40 p.m. Friday after a shooting at a business across the street from Cambridge Commons residence hall. No one from UWM was involved in the shooting. Police said there is no continued threat to the public but have asked people to avoid the area. UWM police officers are at Cambridge Commons to be a resource for students.

Police believe the suspect fled the business in a white SUV. UWM Police issued the RAVE alert because of the incident’s proximity to Cambridge Commons. The business is 1.8 miles away from UWM’s main campus. Inquiries about the investigation should be directed to Milwaukee Police.

Because this is an upsetting incident, we are encouraging students to make use of counseling services available through the  UWM Student Health and Wellness Center if needed.

Employees have been encouraged to seek out support through the EAP program in the Department of Human Resources.
