School Choice Wisconsin: Welcomes Linda Appleby as Director of Development

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (January 10, 2023) – Linda Appleby will join School Choice Wisconsin as Director of Development effective January 16, 2023, according to Nicholas Kelly, SCW President.

Appleby has extensive experience in complex fundraising environments, including healthcare, higher education, and religious organizations. She brings a deep commitment to parental choice and has worked actively to expand options and improve educational results in her hometown of Beloit.

“Linda brings an entrepreneurial spirit and an innovative approach to fundraising that has produced remarkable results. We were struck from the moment we met her with her character, commitment to our mission, and expertise. We feel very fortunate to have her on our team,” Kelly said.

Appleby’s experience with religious organizations during the past fifteen years includes work with Lutheran Hour Ministries, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Foundation, and Bethesda Lutheran Communities.

She also served as Director of Development for St. Coletta of Wisconsin, an organization that serves people with developmental and intellectual disabilities and as Director of Development for the Cardiovascular Center at Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin where she managed efforts to raise funds for cardiovascular research.

Appleby counts as her most memorable experience her leadership of Team Phenomenal Hope, a disease-specific nonprofit that raises funds to support research and patients, including adults and children, who suffer from a terminal disease called pulmonary hypertension. Her strategic guidance and development work put the organization on a sound financial footing.

“I am delighted to join the mission-driven team at School Choice Wisconsin. Educational opportunity is fundamental to success in life, and I look forward to helping to build support for strong and sustainable options,” Appleby said.

Appleby lives in Beloit where she has participated in the Beloit Chapter of the Women’s Policy Circle, an organization of which she was a founding member. She also volunteers as a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church Stewardship Committee and the Stateline Community Foundation Women’s Fund.
