MADISON – The Public Service Commission (PSC) announced today that Chairperson Rebecca Cameron Valcq has accepted state and national leadership positions, being reappointed as PSC Chairperson and being elected to the National Utilities Diversity Council (NUDC) Board.
PSC Chairperson Rebecca Cameron Valcq was reappointed by Governor Tony Evers as Chairperson for an additional two-year term effective March 1, 2023. Gov. Evers first appointed Valcq as a Commissioner for a six-year term on January 7, 2019, and soon after appointed her Commission Chairperson.
“I am honored to have these opportunities to serve the public at both the state and national levels,” said Chairperson Valcq. “As PSC Chairperson, I am proud to continue to lead our agency’s ongoing work to close Wisconsin’s digital divide; see that our state’s transition to zero carbon is done reliably, responsibly, and affordably; and view our agency decisions and actions through a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion. I thank the Governor for his continued trust.”
On March 2, 2023, Chairperson Valcq was elected to the Board of Directors for the National Utilities Diversity Council (NUDC). The NUDC is an organization that conducts research to educate, develop best practices and guide efforts that will promote diversity in the utilities and communications industries in the areas of governance, employment, procurement, language access/customer service, and philanthropy.
“Promoting diversity in the utilities and communications industries ensures we have more professionals with different backgrounds and experiences who understand and can appropriately respond to the diverse public service needs of their communities,” continued Chairperson Valcq. “Now as a NUDC Board member, I look forward to working collaboratively with leaders across the country to encourage diverse representation in all aspects of this industry.”
