MADISON, Wis., Jan. 30, 2023 – NEXT Generation Consulting and Kate Moreland Consulting are joining forces in a partnership that will blend strategic foresight and strategic doing, to help communities develop more resilient and sustainable economies.
The new alliance will focus on “assisting communities with learning the strategic doing process in order to use this collaborative tool to activate their vision,” Moreland says. She’ll draw on her most recent experience as CEO of Iowa City Area Development Group (ICAD).
“In my prior role as CEO ICAD and through the Better Together 2030 Visioning process, I was able to experience NEXT Generation Consulting’s foresight process first hand. I know how transformative a vision can be in uniting a community and providing a north star,” says Moreland.
NEXT Generation Consulting’s founder, Rebecca Ryan, describes her job as a futurist to “help clients get above the cloud layer, to see what’s coming and what’s possible. But that’s not enough; people also need to get down from the mountain and TAKE ACTION on the future, and that’s where Kate comes in. As a Strategic Doing fellow, she will help our clients choose projects that require little money and no permission, the kinds of things they can do to start building the future immediately.”
Kate Moreland Consulting provides clients with strategic trainings and workshops, workplace well-being workshops and retreats, and individual empowerment coaching, among other services: She is a University of Iowa-trained lawyer, with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Her work with the ICAD tested all her skills, as she was hired as CEO at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. The experience taught her that all members of an organization have to feel valued and supported for it to succeed, she said: “I see well-being as the next frontier that I’m interested in helping communities and individuals navigate.”
Rebecca Ryan will keynote the February 8 annual banquet of the Iowa City Area Business Partnership (ICAPB), the Iowa City Area Development Group (ICAD), and Think Iowa City.
