MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN – MobCraft Beer is hosting their sixth annual Stout Fest on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Festivities will kick off in the taproom at 11:00am, located at 505 S. 5th Street. The festival will be a celebration of dark and malty beer styles including Stouts, Porters and barrel-aged beers. The annual beer fest also serves as the release party for MobCraft’s annual release, Padishah Imperial Barrel-Aged Stout and its variants. Stout Fest is open to the public and free of charge to attend.
All 2023 Padishah varieties were aged for a minimum of 10 months and include:
Jim Beam bourbon barrel
Waterford Stillhouse bourbon barrel
Great Lakes Distillery apple brandy barrel
Padishah Exxtra – an exclusive variant aged for an additional year in bourbon barrels for a total of two years
Padishah loosely translates from the Persian word for “master king.” This “king” of barrel aged beer and its variants clock in at 11% ABV.
MobCraft Beer’s Stout Fest is on December 9 starting at 11:00am-6:00pm with a dark and malty beer tap takeover until 11:00pm.
Adam Thomas, Director of Barrel Operations, reflects on the process of brewing and aging Padishah: “At the start of fall, we start brewing our annual stout, Padishah, for the following year. We source barrels from our friends at Great Lakes as well as a Barrel Broker who always has a good variety of oak. After filling barrels around October, they are aged over the course of the next year or longer to be blended, packaged and served at Stout Fest. This year’s exciting variant blend is Padishah Exxtra, which has spent two years in bourbon barrels.”
2023 Padishah 4 pack limited release will be $20 each.
2023 Padishah variant limited releases 4 packs will be $25 each.
In addition to all of these hitting the draft lines on December 9, MobCraft is also offering a limited release mixed four pack of 12oz cans of Padishah, Jim Beam bourbon barrel, Great Lakes Distillery Apple Brandy Barrel and Waterford Stillhouse bourbon barrel variants. The Padishah four packs will be available in the taproom for $20 each and the Padishah variant four packs will be $25 each. Both will be available starting at 11am on a first come, first serve basis with no quantity limits.
Inside, the taproom will be dedicating a large portion of their 31 lines to different dark beers including all 2023 Padishah variants, Padishah vintages from years past and dark & malty favorites such as Vanilla Wafer Porter, Festa Brewtaliana Pastry Stout, Kringle Monster Pastry Stout, 9 Year Anniversary Stout, 10 year Anniversary Stout and plenty of surprises throughout the day.
Not a fan of dark beer? Don’t worry! A few draught lines will be dedicated to easy drinking beers. Flights will be available all day.
MobCraft Beer’s Stout Fest is a celebration where we cheer for dark and malty beers!
Along with the taproom, the brewery floor will host additional seating along with contests throughout the day. Contests include the annual ugly sweater contest, stout beer trivia, beer tasting trivia ($5 per person) and a competition to see who can unwrap a present the most quickly while wearing mittens. Foosball and shuffleboard will be available throughout the day. The patio will also be open with outdoor seating, burn barrels for heat, and hammerschlagen.
“Stout Fest has become a festival known for not only the awesome dark beers, but the fun variety of games and contests that we host in the brewery throughout the day” says Elise Strupp, Event & Programming Manager at MobCraft Beer. “Stout Trivia has become a favorite over the years, and last year we offered Beer Tasting Trivia for the first time. We are excited to bring Beer Tasting Trivia back; it is $5 per person to play and includes four samples of MobCraft stouts. Test your palette and see if you can identify this year’s stouts!”
Special stout inspired grub will also be available from the MobCraft kitchen in addition to pizzas.
