City of Monona: Monona Library Board welcomes back Director Ryan Claringbole

The Monona Library Board has completed its search for a director and is pleased to announce that it is welcoming back its former director, Ryan Claringbole. Claringbole was originally hired as Monona’s library director in March of 2017. He briefly left to pursue a position in state government until deciding to return. Prior to 2017,

Claringbole was with the Department of Public Instruction working on the Public Library Development Team as a consultant to public libraries around the state of Wisconsin. Library Board President Mary Anderson said, “The Monona Public Library is the gem of our community. The Board is committed to its flourishing and we look forward to the next chapter with Ryan as its director.”

After stepping down from his position as director of the Monona Public Library late last year, Claringbole petitioned to run for the upcoming open City Council seat in the election this April. Since he cannot be a City of Monona department head while sitting on City Council, Claringbole has now dropped out of the race and will not be accepting the seat if he wins.

Claringbole will enthusiastically return on March 20 saying, “I am very excited to work with the great staff at the library and serve the Monona public again.”
