Wisconsin Central School Bus: To hold driver hiring event in Milwaukee

Milwaukee, Wis. (September 14, 2022) – Wisconsin Central School Bus, a branch of North America Central School Bus – one of the fastest growing bus companies in the U.S., announced it will hold a hiring event on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at its Milwaukee base located at 3850 N. Holton Street. Wisconsin Central School Bus serves students in the Milwaukee Public Schools district and several charter schools in the city.

“A school bus driver is often one of the first faces a child sees at the start of the school day and we understand that just like their teachers, bus drivers make an incredible impact on the overall school experience,” said Rosalind Thomas, contract manager at Wisconsin Central School Bus. “We are ensuring the next generation arrives to school and back home safely, and that is a role we take seriously. Our goal is to continue building a team that provides safe, reliable, and efficient transportation that enriches the lives of the students we serve.”

Wisconsin Central School Bus’ hiring event will include in-person interviews, with on-the-spot job offers extended to qualified candidates. Event details include:

  • Saturday, September 17, 2022
  • 11:00 am – 3:00 pm

Bus drivers play a critical role by ensuring children of all ages, backgrounds, and socioeconomic status get to and from school safely and reliably every day.  School buses keep an annual estimated 17.3 million cars off roads surrounding schools each day. Additionally, the federal government considers school buses to be about nine times safer than other passenger vehicles during the normal school commute.

A 2022 National School Transportation Association (NSTA) poll validated that a severe school bus driver shortage continues to impact student transportation. The nationwide driver shortage has created challenges for schools, students, and parents, oftentimes creating delays to the school day or requiring students to be on a bus for extended periods of time. Wisconsin Central School Bus has remained committed to providing exceptional service to the community by reducing or eliminating these delays with the hiring and training of dedicated team members.

Benefits of becoming a school bus driver for Wisconsin Central School Bus:

  • Part-time positions with flexible shifts (morning and afternoon), paying up to $25 per hour
  • Nights and weekends off
  • Additional hours available for charter services
  • Drivers can bring their own children over one year old on the bus during transportation services
