(Waukesha) – WAUK 540 AM and 101.1 FM will have new ownership, and will broadcast Waukesha-first news, sports, traffic, and weather in 2022 and beyond. The WAUK format will simulcast on a Waukesha licensed 101.1 FM, nicknamed “The ’SHA”.

WAUK Radio, LLC is a new entity headed by Mike Crute, current CEO of New WTTN, LLC. Crute programs news/talk at 92.7 FM in Madison and 1580 AM in Columbus, WI. WAUK Radio will purchase the stations, pending FCC approval, from Good Karma Brands.

WAUK Radio has leased an office space and will immediately build a studio location at 217 Wisconsin Ave, in downtown Waukesha. WAUK Radio will initially play New WTTN’s current political talk line-up from Madison, before expanding to additional locally hosted programming in the spring.

WAUK Radio’s line-up will be: Matt Flynn-Direct 6-8 AM; the Nationally Syndicated Thom Hartmann Program, 11-2 PM; Dueling Tangents w/ Luke Mathers and Bryan Kelly, 2-3 PM; The Devil’s Advocates Show, 3-5 PM; The Earl Ingram Show, will initially air 5-6 PM, before shifting to mornings 8-11 AM after the completion of the new Waukesha studio.

WAUK Radio will soon provide 10 hours of locally hosted talk each weekday, offering live programming from 6 AM until 10 PM. WAUK Radio will broadcast national news through the Associated Press, along with local news produced from the Waukesha studio.

WAUK Radio will also air a Waukesha-centric, community events and small-business program, hosted by Waukesha Alder, Don Paul Browne. The show will launch at 10 AM Saturday, January 15th. WAUK Radio will also broadcast Max Ink Radio, featuring live, local music on Saturdays from 6 PM to midnight.

“We are excited to serve Waukesha, a community lacking a locally-focused news/talk commercial radio station,” Crute said. “WAUK Radio will immediately offer $50,000 total in “Good Neighbor” small business or non-profit grants to give help serve the Waukesha community from Day 1. The grants are for advertising on WAUK 540 am/101 FM. They will be awarded throughout January to locally owned, Waukesha businesses. We will begin accepting applications for our Good Neighbor grants on January 3rd, 2022.”

WAUK Radio also announces that Bryan Kelly will manage Waukesha and Jackson, WI facilities, and hold the title of Operations Manager.
