Green Bay, Wis.— The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Austin E. Cofrin School of Business is proud to welcome UW-Green Bay alumna Laurie Butz ‘91, president and chief executive officer of Capital Credit Union, to its advisory board.
Butz is a forward-thinking leader with more than 30 years of business and financial services experience. During her career, she has held senior leadership roles in human resources, organizational development, training, sales administration, investments, insurance services and business development for profit and not for profit organizations including Community First Credit Union, Alta Resources, United Health Care and Associated Bank.
“Laurie brings a strong knowledge of the community and intuitive business acumen to our advisory board,” says Mathew Dornbush, dean of the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business. “Her passion for creating opportunities for students and supporting their success will further the positive momentum of the business school.”
Most notable is Butz’ strong commitment to community. As an active participant with local nonprofit organizations, she has served as board chair for the YMCA of the Fox Cities and United Way Fox Cities, board personnel chair for the YMCA of the Fox Cities, UW Fox Cities, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fox Valley, as well as through management oversight of the Community First Fox Cities Marathon.
Laurie has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from UW-Green Bay, a master’s degree in Business Administration from UW-Oshkosh and earned a three-year designation as Certified Chief Executive (CCE) through CUES. She is also a certified Six Sigma Green Belt through Juran Institute. Most recently, Laurie was recognized as the 2022 Beta Gamma Sigma honoree by UW-Oshkosh for her achievements in business and exemplary pursuit of wisdom. She was an adjunct faculty member at UW-Oshkosh for more than 10 years.
Laurie is a lifelong resident of Green Bay. Her husband Dennis recently retired from Paper Converting Machine Company after 27 years, to take his hobby to a new level as a full-time fishing captain for Butz Guide Service. Her daughter, Allison and son-in-law, Kholten Eggler, live and work in the valley with their new puppy Chloe. Laurie is an avid runner and, in her free time loves to read, write, and train with her golden retriever Bella.
She lives by the motto of “better every day” in all that she does, whether it be leading, learning, running, or loving those around her.
