Security Health Plan: Names Rebecca Normington director of marketing communications

MARSHFIELD – Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Inc., has named Rebecca Normington, of Edgar, director of marketing communications.

Normington will develop marketing and communication strategies for Security Health Plan in alignment with those of Marshfield Clinic Health System. She will engage with leaders across the Health Plan and Health System to identify and gain visibility for the value Security brings to its members, and lead executive communications and brand management for the Health Plan.

Normington most recently served as the Health Plan’s marketing and communications manager for 17 years. She joined the Marshfield Clinic Health System organization in 1994 as a marketing communication specialist in Marshfield Clinic’s Corporate Communications Department.

“I have been impressed with this organization since I started working here in 1994, and I still am,” Normington said. “It is an organization that is well-respected for high-quality health care and health coverage, and offers tremendous opportunities to employees. I enjoy being part of an organization that wants to do what’s right for the people it serves. Security Health Plan continually looks for better ways to serve its customers – our members and employers.”

Normington acknowledged health insurance is a significant purchase for individuals, families and employers.

“We want our members’ coverage to be the right match for their health and financial needs, and we don’t want it to be a hassle. We work hard to make health insurance one less thing for our members to worry about,” she said.

Security Health Plan Chief Growth Officer Jenny Shermo said Normington has been integral in ensuring Security Health Plan’s audiences are connecting with the Health Plan’s various messages through a variety of channels: advertising, website, newsletters and educational materials.

“As a key player at Security Health Plan for the better part of two decades, Becca has helped develop and coordinate communications that resonate with our members,” Shermo said. “Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit she has led our marketing communications team in keeping our employees, members, providers and brokers informed about benefits and changes that affect our members. I look forward to Becca taking an even stronger leadership role for our marketing and communications efforts in this new role.”

A native of Spring Arbor, Michigan, Normington is an alumnus of Northern Michigan University, where she earned a bachelor of science degree in English. She has over 20 years of leadership experience working in the fields of marketing, communications and brand management within the Marshfield Clinic Health System.

She said she looks forward her newa role, which will allow her to gain a deeper understanding of all Security Health Plan functions and the ways the Health Plan works to improve access to care, improve the quality of care and reduce cost for its members.
