GREEN BAY, Wis. — With the support of the City of Green Bay, On Broadway, Inc. is celebrating the season of Oktoberfest and activating Leicht Memorial Park with a Pop-Up Biergarten in the Broadway District.
The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. on September 22 and will include live original music by Miles Over Mountains starting at 6 p.m. The band is from McHenry, IL and plays a modernized style of progressive bluegrass that covers a wide spectrum of genres, dynamics and feeling. Troy Heinz will open the event and play from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Food trucks and local craft beer will be available to purchase. Lawn games and beautiful views of the riverfront will round out this great event.
“Leicht Park is a beautiful space on our riverfront that attracts many people to our downtown for a variety of reasons. Additionally, it serves as a neighborhood park for the thousands of residents that live nearby,” said Brian Johnson, executive director, On Broadway, Inc. “The future of this prized public space can harness many additional uses through proper design and activation and this event will serve as a place where we can have that dialogue with our community while reimagining future park uses.”
“Prost!” said Mayor Eric Genrich. “This is a perfect opportunity for the City and On Broadway to demonstrate to the community what the future of Leicht Park will look like with the implementation of the park’s master plan. It’s also a chance for people to celebrate the Oktoberfest season in a family-friendly way in downtown Green Bay.”
This is a FREE, family and pet friendly event. Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged. Please keep pets on a leash and make sure to pick up after them. Carry-ins of alcohol is prohibited.
