Dykema: Milwaukee office adds experienced healthcare and corporate attorney Timothy B. Caprez

Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the addition of attorney Timothy Caprez to the firm’s recently opened Milwaukee office. Caprez joins Dykema after serving as Vice President and Chief Compliance Counsel at Exact Sciences Corp. (Nasdaq: EXAS), a worldwide leader in cancer diagnostics.

Caprez brings nearly two decades of experience advising public and private entities in corporate governance and commercial transaction settings spanning an array of industries, with a deep focus in the healthcare sector. In his role as Vice President and Chief Compliance Counsel with Exact Sciences, he built and led the company’s global compliance program, delivering guidance and developing systemic initiatives focused on mitigating industry risks, ensuring an ethical organizational culture, and auditing, monitoring, and investigating for adherence to standards and plan. In addition to his corporate governance role, he counseled and represented the company on commercial activities that helped fuel its historic growth, from corporate acquisitions and third-party engagements to the planning and execution of sales and marketing strategies and tactics.

Over the course of his career, Caprez has provided legal counsel for clients of all sizes and stages of growth, partnering with corporate executives to effectively integrate legal compliance into the research, development, and commercialization of products and services, as well as creating specialized policies and engaging training programs to ensure a compliant approach to sustainable success. His diverse transactional background includes mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, real estate and financing transactions, and the negotiation and execution of sophisticated commercial and licensing arrangements. 

Recognized as a gifted public speaker on healthcare and corporate compliance topics, in particular, Caprez has developed significant experience providing guidance on the spectrum of fraud and abuse prohibitions, data privacy protections and monetization opportunities, Medicare/Medicaid billing regulations, and private payor coverage topics, as well as employment, affiliation and credentialing issues and arrangements for medical professionals.
