Burger Fest: Celebrates “Burgers of the Future” during annual August festival

(Seymour, WI) Looking for that fun summer activity that offers tasty foods, great music and plenty of affordable family friendly entertainment? Then mark your calendar for August 12-13, 2022 and join the festivities at the 33rd annual Burger Fest celebration in Seymour, Wis., a.k.a. the Home of the Hamburger!

Each year, the town celebrates its love for burgers and the rich history that comes from the creation of the very first hamburger by Charlie Nagreen (Hamburger Charlie) during the 1885 Seymour Fair.

This year’s event is sure to tempt your taste buds as you enjoy delicious burgers and the opportunity to take a bite out of the 200-pound Giant Hamburger. Plus, if you’re daring, hungry enough, or don’t mind getting a bit messy, you can test your appetite or sliding skills during the Hamburger Eating or Ketchup Slide competitions. And, you definitely don’t want to miss the world’s largest hamburger parade, the classic car show, live music, vendors and, of course, everyone’s favorite – the spectacular hot air balloon rally followed by the balloon glow. The schedule of events includes:

33rd Annual Burger Fest Event Schedule: Saturday, August 13

Depot St., Seymour, Wis.

·        8 a.m.:  Get your “buns” to Lake Park for the 5K Bun Run. Kids race will start at 11 a.m.

·        9 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Car lovers can cruise on over to the Burger Fest Car Show sponsored by Reich Tool & Design and Trinity Biomedical

·        11 a.m.: Save your spot for the World’s Largest Hamburger Parade along Depot St. in Seymour

·        11 a.m. – 6 p.m.: Take a bite out of these tasty snacks available for purchase: burgers, french fries, hot dogs, cheese curds and a variety of beverages

·        11 a.m. – 7 p.m.: Feeling lucky? Enter the 50/50 Raffle with proceeds going to the Home of the Hamburger Scholarship Program

·        12 p.m.: Registration opens for the Burger Eating Contest and Ketchup Slide Competition sponsored by Seymour Dairy Queen Grill & Chill

·        12 – 1:30 p.m.: Live music with performances from area high school bands

o   12 – 12:30 p.m.: Pulaski High School Marching Band (Seymour Veterans Memorial & Park)

o   12:30 – 1 p.m.: Seymour High School Band (Center Stage by Gazebo)

o   1 – 1:30 p.m.: Freedom High School Band (Center Stage by Gazebo)

·        12 – 4:30 p.m.: Have a blast with children’s activities including an inflatable bounce house and big wheel rides

·        1 p.m.: Live music by Let Me Be Frank tribute band

·        2 p.m.: Get your fill at the Hamburger Eating Contest, sponsored by Seymour Dairy Queen Grill & Chill

·        3 p.m.: Behold the giant 200-pound hamburger, grilled and served to Burger Fest guests on a first come, first served basis

·        4:30 p.m.: Have fun watching, or maybe even making a splash at the Ketchup Slide Competition, sponsored by Seymour Dairy Queen Grill & Chill

Burger Fest 21st Annual Hot Air Balloon Rally Schedule

Friday-Saturday, August 12-13 at Rock Ledge School and Park in Seymour, Wis.

The 21st annual Hot Air Balloon Rally is your ticket to get up close to mighty hot air balloons as they take fight and light up the sky. The fun starts on Friday night with a hot air balloon glow that is guaranteed to wow us all. Saturday morning, the balloons will take to the sky. While the balloons are soaring and glowing, kids can burn off summertime energy at the inflatable bounce house and games. You won’t leave hungry with all of the tasty burgers, snacks and beverages available for purchase. Round out your time in Seymour by attending the 34th annual Burger Fest taking place on Saturday, Aug. 13!

Friday, August 12

  • 4 – 7 p.m.: 50/50 Raffle (Drawing at approx. 7:30 p.m.)
  • 4 – 8 p.m.: Hot Air Balloon Ride Raffle (Drawing at approx. 8:15 p.m.)
  • 4 – 9 p.m.: Kid’s events, including face painting until 7 p.m.
  • 4 – 9 p.m.: Burgers, french fries, hot dogs, cheese curds, soda and water available for purchase
  • 6 p.m.: Hot air balloons take flight (weather permitting) *
  • 8 p.m.: Take in the sights of the beautiful hot air balloon glow at dusk *

Saturday, August 13

  • 6 a.m.:  Hot air balloon ascension *
  • 4 – 8 p.m.: 50/50 Raffle (Drawing at approx. 8:15 p.m.)
  • 4:30 – 8 p.m.: Kid’s events, including inflatable bouncy house
  • 5 – 9 p.m.:  Burgers, french fries, hot dogs, cheese curds, soda and water available for purchase
  • 6 p.m.: Hot air balloon ascension *

*All hot air balloon event times are approximate and weather permitting. Admission and parking for the Balloon events are free. There is a charge to attend Burger Fest ($3 in advance or $5 at the gate).
