BizStarts: The first round of Spanish speaking entrepreneurs graduated from El Instituto Latino de BizStarts

MILWAUKEE (November, 2022) – On Saturday the first Cohort of entrepreneurs graduated from El Instituto Latino de BizStarts, the 6 week business bootcamp taught entirely in Spanish by Thaime Nañez.

BizStarts is excited to recognize and congratulate the 19 graduates of El Instituto Latino de BizStarts who completed the program this past Saturday. The program is based off University of Notre Dame Professor Michael Morris’ program and consists of 6 Saturday classes touching on business basics needed to start your own business. The program was taught and hosted by Thaime Nañez at the Farmhouse Paint and Sip in south Milwaukee. “BizStarts is fortunate to have Thaime in our network as a community leader and our Spanish speaking coach” said Franks Cumberbatch, Chairperson of the Board BizStarts. BizStarts plans to continue to work with Thaime to ensure Spanish speaking entrepreneurs have the resources to make their businesses thrive. The graduates will be paired with Spanish speaking business mentors and student consultants to provide guidance as they continue their entrepreneurial journey.

Last month Thaime Nañez was invited to the White House for Hispanic Heritage Month to discuss small business’s critical role in the economy with Vice President Kamala Harris. She is the owner of Farmhouse Paint and Sip, Chuchos Red Tacos and is also the BizStarts’ Spanish-speaking business coach. While at the White House Thaime and other invitees discussed the role small business owners play as community leaders and sources of information. Vice President Harris affirmed their leadership role and encouraged them to continue to keep communities informed of the resources and support available.

Thaime remarked, “It has taken a lot of effort and devotion to become someone worthy of this work. I love representing my community and talking about the issues we currently face.

But above all, I am excited that our voices are being heard. This is just the beginning.”
