Tommy Thompson, president of the University of Wisconsin System, is scheduled to help UW-Stout students celebrate reaching a 70% COVID-19 vaccination rate when he visits campus on Monday, Oct. 11.
Along with Chancellor Katherine Frank, Thompson will hand out ice cream to students from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at the amphitheater of the Memorial Student Center. The amphitheater is part of the building’s east entrance.
Media are invited to attend, with multiple opportunities for photos and B-roll. Thompson, the former governor of Wisconsin, and Frank will be available to media during the event. In case of rain, the event will be moved to the Terrace, on the second floor of the student center.
Thompson will be joined by UW System student Regent Emeritus Olivia Woodmansee.
The event will include the Hi Striker bell, which has been used by the System to promote its ongoing theme of smashing COVID-19 at campuses across the state.
Thompson’s visit also will help kick off homecoming week at UW-Stout.
